The Dropout

This week, I am directing a short musical that I wrote with a good friend. It is called "The Dropout." Things are going exceptionally well so far. I think this is a very important week of my life. I have wanted to work on films since I was a youngster. I didn't know specifically what I wanted to do with film, but whatever it is, this feels like it.

Update

I don't know if anyone is actually reading this, but if you have been, you will have noticed that I haven't posted anything for a while. My apologies. I have been busier than I have ever been in the past. I posted a video this past Mothers Day, which was about postmodern thought. Nobody liked it, so I just removed it. If you want to see it, I will give you a personal screening and then you will see why I removed it.... I was a fan of the video actually and I really like it, but nobody else did. I will get back to you once I get through with some serious thought about my screen writing and filmmaking abilities.

Lee and Me

I thought I would let you see some pictures of my roommate and me. We are singing karaoke together at a friend's birthday party. I don't want to depress you, but this was one of the best nights of my entire life. You can see the escalation of how things occurred that evening.

Friends

Lee tried to steal my thunder by dancing...

...So I body slammed him.

Good old fashioned sleeper hold.

A Video from High School

I am in the process of making a short musical called, "The Dropout." This video posted below must have been what inspired me to make a higher quality musical. The name of the song in the video is "Regresa a Mi" performed by Il Divo. My friends and I made this over a couple weekends in high school and I must say that it is one of the most sentimental videos to me. Enjoy.

Laughter

I don't think there is another picture of me where I look happier. However, the side of my face looks kind of nasty. They don't call me the Master of Nast for nothing. The other gentleman in this picture is my buddy Daniel. We are at a BBQ. I spilled a lot of condiments on myself that evening.

Some More Photos from Spring Break

It looks like I can only put five pictures on at a time.

More Photos from Spring Break

In my previous post, I didn't realize that I can only put on eight megabytes of pictures at once. So here are some scaled down images for you viewing pleasure.

Chorale Tour to Europe

Prague

Austin 's jacket matches the building.

The Melk Abbey. Too bad my eyes are closed.

The ducks in Prague are basically the same as they are in the US. I was so let down.

This past Spring Break, March 20- March 31, I traveled to Europe for the first time with the Biola University Chorale. We visited Germany, Austria, and The Czech Republic. Considering that we visited three countries in so few days, the tripped seemed so short, but so great nonetheless. We sang in several cathedrals from the Gothic and Baroque periods. We sang during several Catholic masses, even an Easter mass. I don't think I had been to a Catholic Church before this.
Everywhere we sang was very elaborately constructed and decorated--much more than anywhere I can think of in the United States. I can't imagine ever putting as much detail into something so huge as did those who built the cathedrals in which we sang. I believe that God has the ability to manifest his love for humanity through gorgeous architecture, but I don't think that a cathedral has the ability to love another. I believe that the Chorale demonstrated God's love for us through our songs. Our concerts seemed to be more than just concerts. I loved seeing the way that the audiences responded to our singing. I was definitely blessed and I hope that we blessed others even more.

Enjoy this video. I think it has the greatest impact on its audience out of all my videos.

What the Video Means

If you aren't familiar with the men on the T-shirt in the video from my first post, then you might be somewhat confused. The men on the shirt are Latin American Revolutionaries--Emilio Zapata, Pancho Villa, and Che Guevara. These men fought for land and liberty for the common man, liberating him from oppression. This video isn't about seeking justice for male pattern baldness as it may appear. The video is about being liberated from oppression, not just oppression by a controlling girlfriend, but freedom from that which binds the spirit. Ultimately, the video is about breaking free from the bondage of sin. I believe, "It is for freedom that Christ set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."
Now that I have explained the meaning of this video, I would like to share a video with you that has no deeper meaning. My friend Sam and I just made it up as we went along. You can probably tell.

The First Post

This is my most recent short film. It is called "Tierra y Liberdad," or "Land and Liberty." We shot it in about 3.5 hours and I recorded the music with my roommates. This was recently nominated for best comedy, best original music, best acting, and best screen writing for the Biola Film Festival on April 25 at Biola University. You should stop by and watch some student films. I am quite impressed with the work from students at Biola.
